Taking this alternative trail will immerse you into the Andean culture, make you able to observe local villagers doing their daily activities, pass along seldom visited communities which preserve their ancestral traditions, visit hidden Inca Sites which preserve their inherited cosmic energy without being irruptive and contributing to local community economy. You will hike accompanied by llamas who carry luggage and equipment just as locals still do nowadays.
Even though the Inca Trail is a famous trek in South America, its high demand has made it a very crowded trail making it loose its magic, while other alternative treks in the same area still remain as off the beaten paths making them unique experiences. Also the high volume of daily hikers that cause a severe damage to the soil and in some cases they have been irruptive to the local communities that used to live along the trail.

At night, warm clothing is required, down jackets can be useful, otherwise a fleece and a jacket, convertible hiking pants are useful, and can be switched into shorts if necessary.
