Solar Eclipse Marathon & Half Marathon Tour

The Solar Eclipse Marathon takes place in Port Douglas, Australia on November 14th 2012. All runners meet before sunrise in the start area at Four Mile Beach and get ready for the eclipse, which starts to occur approximately at 6:30 in the morning. All runners must be ready to run when entering the start corral before the eclipse takes place. The start will go as soon as the Sun reemerges from behind the Moon and the corona is broken.

The cut-off time is 7 hours. Runners still on the route after the cut off time will be swept up by a race official or medical car and driven back to the finish area.

The race is timed with Champion Chip. A chip is included in the race package and will be attached to the start number.

All runners who complete the marathon within the time limit will receive a medal. Finishing certificates will be published online by Marathon-Photos.com.

Do not forget that this is first and foremost an adventure. Parts of the route are in challenging terrain where extra care must be taken and the same service as provided in normal city marathons are not possible. Remember that this marathon is about the experience and unforgettable memories rather than winning and recording a good time.

Solar Eclipse Marathon Tour Includes:

  • Air fare to/from Australia on Qantas Airways, coach class, from LAX. Includes weekend surcharge. Also includes all air fares within Australia. (air fare is subject to increase for Nov 2012 - likely about 10%, TBC later). USA domestic add-on air fares available on request.
  • Accommodations at First Class Hotels/Resorts as shown, basis sharing double/twin room. Single room supplement available on request.
  • Full Buffet Breakfast daily at all hotels/resorts.
  • Special Lunches and Dinners as shown.
  • In-flight meals at appropriate meal hours.
  • Group transfers from/to airports, including baggage handling at hotels (1 piece pp).
  • Sightseeing and excursions, including entrance fees to places visited. Includes national park fees.

Not Included:

  • US and overseas International airport taxes which must be on the QF air ticket (amount fluctuates - presently $204.00). Applicable amount will be on final invoice for air ticketing. Possible air fuel surcharges (currently $500.00), unknown at this stage for Nov 2012.
  • US Passport fee (must have a valid US passport valid to at least 30 June 2013).
  • Australia Visa processing fee of about $25.00 for US citizens (tourist visa).

  • Items of personal nature, and any items not specifically listed as included herein.
